The crisis behind the commencement of second semester 2017/18 examination in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has been dragged to the door step of the Polytechnic Deputy Rector, Mr. Ayodeji Tella.
The Students’ Union Government executives led by the President, Comrade Owoiya Rasaq on Monday stormed the office of the Deputy Rector to hold a closed door meeting with him over the commencement of our second semester examination.
The meeting which lasted for two-hours led to an agreement between the Students’ body and the school management to start paying the December salary of both the Academic and Non-Academic staff of the Polytechnic. The school management also promised to pay the salaries before Friday 18, January 2019.
However, The school management leaves out the debt of 2017 November salary, claiming
they had planned to pay all workers at the polytechnic at the same time, but only ASUP was involved in the November 2017 salary.
Meanwhile, the deputy rector also promised that, the payment of November 2017 salary as demanded by the ASUP MAPOLY chapter will be paid soon as all hands are on desk to find quick solutions to the payment.
Responding to the resumption question, Tella noted that, there is noting the Polytechnic leadership could do to resolve the crisis if the nationwide ASUP strike is still ongoing.
Fellow Mapaites, to make this struggle a victory in our dear institution, we need to come together as one, irrespective of our interest, ideology and departments.
We need to be united and be prayerful so that our agitation can yield a positive result. Our dear colleagues, you should know that, we would never trade our future of over 30,000 Mapaites for stipend.
By God’s grace, the issue of examination will be resolved soon and we are reiterating our commitment that nothing would discourage us until we find a lasting solution to the crisis in the school.
